New Light was established in 2010 to celebrate and promote Northern art. This biennial Prize Exhibition is now one of the UK’s largest and most celebrated open exhibitions.
New Light will be celebrating its tenth anniversary with a superb Prize Exhibition tour featuring shortlisted and award winning artists both familiar and new to the art scene. Concluding with a week at Bankside, the New Light Prize Exhibition launched at Scarborough Art Gallery in September 2020 to critical acclaim before visiting The Biscuit Factory, Newcastle and Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery in Carlisle, one of the few touring exhibitions to continue during the Covid Pandemic.
The exhibition brings together over 125 pieces of contemporary art, showcasing well-known and emerging artists. Demonstrating the wealth of artistic talent that prevails in the North of England, this diverse exhibition showcases artistic skill from the hyper real to the abstract and across a range of media.
