The annual exhibition of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers showcases over 500 miniature art works in a range of styles and techniques including paintings, drawings, sculpture, porcelain, carving, glass engraving and silversmithing. Many new and innovative ideas come forward each year, demonstrating how traditional craftsmanship continues to evolve and excite!
Due to their compact size, miniature paintings have always been treasured personal gifts, tracing their roots back to the 16th century. A collection can easily be formed at a reasonable cost, without taking up too much space.
The Royal Miniature Society was founded in 1896 and in 1905 King Edward VII granted the Royal Charter, a Patronage that has continued with each subsequent Monarch, to the present day. With many of the very best contemporary miniature artists among its membership, the Royal Miniature Society is regarded as the foremost organisation in this field in the world.
