Born in 1971, in Wantage, Oxfordshire, Paul Regan went on to study Illustration at the University of the West of England in Bristol, and Art and Design Education at UCL in London. In 2001, after five years teaching art in Secondary schools, Paul founded Insight School of Art to provide an art school education for all adults and children. In 2016 Paul founded Studio Fridays mentoring, supporting new and emerging artists with their practice and helping them to get their work seen by a wider audience.
In his own practice, Paul says that he is interested in the relationship between photographs and memory, and paints to reconnect with the fragments of time on his photo stream. Reviewing his 2017 solo show, ’Suburban Nights’, art critic Estelle Lovatt described him as a 'Master of Light, an extraordinary skill and an extraordinary eye. He's like an owl.'
Paul is a regular exhibitor at open exhibitions, most recently at the RA Summer Exhibition, The London Group Open, The The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition and The Discerning Eye. He became an associate of the Royal Watercolour Society in 2019, having won the RWS Award in 2016 and The Artist Award in 2017 at the RWS Open. He was elected a full member in 2021.
