Weimin's work is largely influenced by the ancient philosophy of Daoism thoughts such as Lao Zi’s ‘knowing the white, retaining the black, it is the form of the world…’. Weimin's woodcut is also inspired by Chinese seal cutting and calligraphy and the folk art of paper cutting. Sketching is part of Weimin's daily life, therefore the subject matters are mostly from thier sketches, and they tend to use minimum elements to interpret the sketches into black and white woodcut language.
