Janet's current subject matter is the landscape of the West Yorkshire Pennines, where she has lived for thirty years. Still an area of strong contrasts, she is becoming aware of gradual changes taking place. The dark satanic mills have long gone, and farming practices have changed. Now, trees are beginning to creep up the steep hillsides where once nothing but tough grasses and heather would survive. Once isolated, abandoned and crumbling farmsteads are becoming luxurious dwellings with commanding views across the valley. However, this continues to be a powerful and particular landscape which holds a deep fascination for Janet.
