Lisa Traxler RWS

Lisa Traxler is a contemporary artist based on the Isle of Wight. She has been recipient of a number of awards and has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout the UK and Europe (Italy, Germany, Greece). Her work is held in both public and private collections. 

 

Traxler’s work is multidisciplinary, combining painting and 3d form responding to landscape and architectural spaces. A former fashion editor and costume designer, the natural evolution of her thought process is evident in her artworks from spacial configuration to the intricacy of colour. She calls her sculptural works space paintings suggesting their evolution off the wall and into the place we inhabit. Recent solo exhibitions include Outer Space, Pangolin London (2023), Time Traveller, Southampton City Art Gallery (2022), Blast Wall, Arts Council England Awarded, The Foundry Gallery, London (2021) and Dazzle + Disrupt, duo exhibition, Arts Council England Awarded, Quay Arts, IW (2021).

 

Traxler is an elected member of The Royal Watercolour Society, 2015,  Royal Society of Sculptors, 2017 and The London Group, 2022. Her work can be found in the Royal Watercolour Society Diploma Collection, Southampton City Art Gallery Collection and Fabriano Museum, Italy.

 

“My palette unfolds itself as I paint. I don’t generally work out the colour range but let intuitive action take place. Almost as if an instinctive reaction is happening; the influences of the research from books and museums but also my every day surroundings and the landscape of my living. The colours then have an emotional quality to them, drawn from somewhere deep to interpret my thoughts.”
