The Norwich Print Fair was founded in 1995 to showcase the talent and craft that goes into contemporary printmaking. It champions traditional methods such as mezzotint, etching and wood engraving, and showcases new techniques - using materials such as photopolymer resins.
The work of the artists is as eclectic as their studios. Sally Hirst works in a disused church, training a tanning lamp onto photopolymer plates; H J Jackson is in his attic room burnishing his intricately constructed lino cuts with the back of an old tobacco tin; Gary Martin pours plaster onto inked-up etching plates; and Mandy Walden produces her atmospheric collagraphs in a wonderfully organised, but tiny garden shed.
The results are surprising and dynamic and have contributed to the enduring appeal of printmaking in Norfolk and Suffolk. This will be the first chance to see the work of many of these artists in London.
