Charlotte Cornish ARE

Charlotte's practice as both printmaker and painter has spanned over three decades. After studying printmaking at Brighton University, The Slade School of Art and Central St Martin’s in London, she returned to the Slade as an Honorary Research Assistant in the Printmaking Department for three years, followed by two years lecturing part-time in the Printmaking Department at De Montfort University.

Her recent work explores combining screen printing monotype processes with directly applied paint. These are sometimes unique pieces or made in small series, with the works having both monoprinted and painted elements. The imagery and content of her work has always symbolised and explored aspects of her personal life - places, people and experiences are sources of inspiration. She is also increasingly engaged more deeply with exploring the qualities of the medium - both the painted and the printed mark - and colour, and colour relationships, in ways that she has developed to become intrinsic to the content of the work itself.

Charlotte's work is exhibited regularly in a number of galleries, and she works with art consultants and undertakes commissions. Her work is held in numerous public and corporate collections, including colleges within the University of Cambridge, Bank of England, Fujitsu, British Medical Association, Leicester Art Collection, Fitzwilliam Museum Cambridge, Addenbrookes Hospital, UCLH and many others.
